Copper Enamel Heart Necklace
Handmade copper enamelled necklace. The front is enamelled in colourful enamel powder and melted glass shards. The back is enamelled in speckled blue. Every enamelled piece is completely one of a kind! Small imperfections give the piece character and handcrafted charm.
Process:
This piece is sawn out of copper sheet by hand. The piece is filed, drilled, shaped and sanded. I then sift a fine powdered glass substance called enamel onto the surface. It is slowly fired at a very high temperature layer by layer to melt and fuse the coloured glass to the copper. In the final layer, small shards of glass are placed into the enamel which pool as they melt in the kiln. I use a small enamelling kiln which my Grandma used for copper enamelling in the 70s. Every enamelled piece is one of a kind!
