Sitka Spruce Tree

Sitka Spruce Tree

A delicate reminder of the beauty of BC's coastal forests. These tall, lightweight trees are native to Western North America, can grow up to 90M tall and are the largest species of spruce tree. They have been used by Aboriginal people along the coast to create ropes, baskets, boats and fishing gear and is also used as a source of vitamin C, a laxative and to help sooth irritated skin. Sitka Spruce grows fast, even in poor soil conditions and is used in timber and paper industries as well as to make many varieties of musical instruments.

Each tree is sawn out by hand and will have different shapes and sizes of branches - just like the real trees.

This necklace is completely handmade and will vary slightly from piece to piece. Made of pure copper. Pendant hangs from a nickel free, copper plated, brass, round, cable chain.  Features a small, copper plated, lobster claw style clasp. Comes with copper care directions, a business card and a special impregnated polishing cloth.

Copper will gain character and oxidize over time due to contact with dirt, oils and moisture. Tarnish can easily be removed by dipping the piece in soy sauce or ketchup for a minute or so. Afterwards rinse and dry thoroughly. Polishing cloths provided will remove tarnish as well.

Handmade with care in Edmonton, Alberta.
